The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area in Serengeti National Park is a World Heritage Site and just happens to be a must on every African photo safari to the southeast portion of Africa.

The Crater is the world’s largest volcanic crater that has not had its wall eroded away or become a lake. The floor of the Crater covers about 100 sq. miles and is nearly 4,000 feet higher than the level of the sea. The rim is nearly 7,000 feet altititude.

Wildlife is abundant throughout this kind of enclosed setting with a population of nearly 50,000 creatures such as wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. In that respect are a few types of wildlife such as impalas, crocodiles, oribis, giraffes, and topis that don’t live there.
